Good morning and welcome to my new blog. It’s been in the making in my head for 2 years now. I enjoy civil conversation but it’s increasingly impossible on anti-social media. It almost seems deliberate on FaceBook’s part to limit your “circle” to those with the most angry and confrontational difference in opinions. It certainly doesn’t foster thought, reflection and the ability to see both sides of an issue. I want to have those conversations that just might change my mind to a different viewpoint and likewise be able to present my legitimate opinion. Let’s work towards that on this not so happy July 4th. Last night in Toledo, Ohio a young 26 year old police officer, Anthony Diaz was killed in the line of duty. He leaves a wife and young son. I doubt you’ll hear much more about it on the “news”. But you might hear more about de-funding the police. Sad times. Ben Franklin in 1787 was asked what sort of government the delegates had crafted. His response was “A republic if you can keep it.” We’re being plagued by a pandemic that a significant group in our population refuses to believe is really a danger. History is being erased and re-written. We not only are trying to cure Covid, but have decided to take on racism, police brutality, a presidential election and all the other warts inherent in a country of 244 years that the world still envies and thinks is the greatest nation in the world……all at the same time. Good luck with that. Stop today and reflect…..think before you speak (or post). Stop insulting each other and LISTEN. Stop thinking you are so damn right about everything. The smartest people know how little they know. Spend some time today reflecting and give a few moments to the family of Anthony Diaz AND all those that have died and suffered needlessly.

Tomorrow I’ll post some of the ideas I have for this blog. I want it to have a life of it’s own and take all of us on a journey to places we didn’t expect.

Be nice today.

Tell us what you think!
