Is Governor Ron DeSantis the future of the Republican Party?

UPDATE: 10/15/2022 Election Day for Governor of Florida, the House of Representatives and Senate is only 24 days away and WE ALL NEED TO GET OUT AND VOTE!!! I wrote this article last year about our AMAZING Governor Ron DeSantis. Since then he’s proven himself to be even BETTER most recently in the unbelievable response to Hurricane Ian and the poor folks of Florida. Power and bridges have been restored in record time. Please don’t take Governor DeSantis’s re-election as a “sure thing”. Let’s give him a HUGE mandate to continue to be the best Governor in America and show our support. Believe me….the liberal lunatics are well organized and as dangerous as ever. Please read and share….and remember….It’s later than you think!!!

Oh what a year it’s been. A pandemic….an election year….a new President…..violence in the streets portrayed as “peaceful demonstrations”…..violence in the Capital……and the “dark winter” including endless snow storms that Biden promised us. The Cuomo brothers trying to bury the dirty secret of unnecessary nursing home deaths…..Joe Biden promising enough vaccines for “300”people and going on an executive order signing spree. I’m not sure exactly what “end of times” is…..but this comes pretty damn close!

So I coined a phrase recently ….TGIF….Thank God It’s Florida! I moved here 3 years ago and only wish I could have a lot sooner than that. Fabulous weather, endless outdoor activities, no state income tax, free college for graduates…..I could go on and on. AND we have Governor Ron DeSantis.

This guy is EVERYTHING I want my “politician” to be. He’s Donald Trump with a filter! A lot of us loved Trump’s policies and the countless things he did that had turned America around and allowed us to be proud again….BUT…..his fatal narcissistic flaw ultimately did him in. I’ve heard countless conservatives say again and again “why couldn’t Trump have just STFU???” So time to move on even if the Democrats are incapable of that and want to continue chasing Donald down the rabbit hole.

So who is Governor Ron DeSantis? He’s 42 years old and was born in Jacksonville, FL. and is of Italian descent. He was quite the baseball player growing up and played in the Little League World Series in 1991. He was captain of the Yale University baseball team and graduated with a B.A. in 2001. He then went to Harvard Law School and graduated in 2005 with a J.D. He received his Reserve Naval officer’s commission and assignment to the Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG) in 2004 at the U.S. Naval Reserve Center in Dallas, Texas, while still a student at Harvard Law School.  He did a lot of work with Guantanamo Bay detainees and then in 2007 was reassigned to SEAL Team 1 and deployed to Iraq with the troop surge as the Legal Advisor to the SEAL Commander. That’s some pretty good stuff!! Check off the box of NOT being a draft dodger!! He returned to Florida in 2008 and was appointed as a Federal Prosecutor. He was honorably discharged in 2010 and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal.

In 2012 DeSantis announced his candidacy for Florida’s 6th Congressional District ultimately winning the election. He was named the chairman of the Subcommittee on National Security. One piece of the legislation he introduced was the Faithful Execution of the Law Act of 2014 (H.R. 3973; 113th Congress), a bill that would direct the United States Department of Justice to report to the United States Congress whenever any federal agency refrains from enforcing laws or regulations for any reason. He said ” “President Obama has not only failed to uphold several of our nation’s laws, he has vowed to continue to do so in order to enact his unpopular agenda. …The American people deserve to know exactly which laws the Obama administration is refusing to enforce and why.” The bill never became law. In 2015 DeSantis announced he would run for the Senate seat that Marco Rubio held. Rubio had not filed for re-election due to his Presidential run. Ultimately Rubio withdrew from a Presidential campaign, DeSantis withdrew his Senate bid and campaigned for his Congressional re-election. In 2017 he introduced a rider to a bill that would have ended the Mueller investigation into Russian collusion. DeSantis said “the DOJ order dated May 17, 2017, “didn’t identify a crime to be investigated and practically invites a fishing expedition.”

In January 2018, DeSantis announced his candidacy for governor of Florida. He was supported by Trump and was a staunch supporter of Trump and his policies. Trust me…..down the road you’ll never hear the end of that fact from the Democrats. His platform included banning sanctuary cities, requiring a super majority vote for any tax increases, implementation of medical marijuana but not legalization and stopping further pollution caused by Lake Okeechobee. He won the governorship in a VERY close election against the Democrat Andrew Gillum. A terrific candidate that the Democratic party nominated. In April 2020, Miami Beach police responded to a hotel room on March 13 where they reportedly found one man who had overdosed, a second man and an extremely inebriated Gillum. Police also found what they suspected to be crystal methamphetamine in the room. My oh my. I wonder if HE won a Bronze Star??

So what has Governor DeSantis done for Florida?

  • DeSantis has helped make record investments in the state’s education system and created the Family Empowerment Scholarship Program for children of families with limited financial resources.
  • He legalized smoking medical marijuana, created the Patient Savings Act to help lower healthcare costs, took steps to lower the cost of prescription drugs in the state, and established the Opioid Task Force while securing over $120 million to fight the opioid epidemic.
  • In November 2019, DeSantis proposed a $91.4 billion environmental budget. That includes $2.5 billion over the next four years to preserve the Everglades
  • He’s also received praise from disaster experts for his storm response. DeSantis provided televised briefings twice daily, avoided pushing for early evacuations and reached out and listened to local emergency managers during Hurricane Dorian
  • DeSantis has held a stricter stance on gun rights than other Republican state lawmakers after the Parkland shooting.

And how has Florida fared under Governor DeSantis during the Covid pandemic? Well he’s certainly had to tolerate a lot of misinformation by the MSM. Florida has been portrayed as perhaps the most dangerous place in America during Covid. Why is that? Because our Governor hasn’t destroyed the economy of Florida by absurd lockdowns that just don’t work. The proof is in the outcomes he has achieved. Let’s look at some specifics:

  • As of March 31 2020, 33 states and Washington DC had issued a statewide stay-at-home order. In a news conference on March 24, DeSantis said “When you are ordering people to shelter in place, you are consigning a number — probably hundreds of thousands — of Floridians to lose their jobs,”
  • As Covid numbers began to surge in NY, DeSantis issued an executive order requiring everybody arriving from the New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut area to self-quarantine for 14 days. By April DeSantis did order a state-wide “stay at home” order even though 60% of the cases were located in southeast Florida. By April 30 the order was lifted, one of only 3 states to lift the order within the same month. Through May and June cases increased but a large number of them were in young people.
  • It hasn’t been a smooth road but at least restaurants and businesses have been able to make it through this terrible time. Other states like NY and NJ are losing thousands of businesses a day.
  • Florida’s unemployment rate stood at 6.1% in December, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. NY and the Cuomo’s is 8.2% and 11.4% in NYC home of De Blah Blah Blasio.
  • Florida had a “25% increase in home sales year-over-year” in 2020 compared to 2019.
  • Florida is “doing a lot to focus on protecting elderly people from COVID,” said DeSantis noting that “about 1.75 million seniors” have been vaccinated so far, which he said is about 40% of all seniors in the state. An incredible accomplishment!!
  • This week, DeSantis slammed President Biden’s reported consideration for domestic travel bans to counter new strains of COVID-19 from spreading nationwide, calling it “unconstitutional” and “a political attack against Florida.”
  • Currently, Florida has relatively low rates of Covid cases, deaths and hospitalizations.
  • Florida is 30th in the U.S. number cases of Covid per 100,000
  • Florida is 27th in the U.S. number of Covid deaths per 100,000…NJ and NY are #1 and #2!

So that’s some information about Governor Ron DeSantis and his guiding of Florida through Covid, storms and vaccines. I’m positive we’ll be hearing his name come up more and more as a “rising star” in the Republican Party. We’ll also hear MSM trying to tie him to Trump on an hourly basis. I’ve said it before ….TGIF…Thank God It’s Florida and DeSantis 2024!!

You are a refreshing breath of air in a stale, politically driven, propaganda based world. No need to beat this dead horse, yet extreme vigilance must be maintained against these far left zealots.

I personally feel the Republican Party is dead in the voters eyes. Especially after showing their true colors with the Trump election. There has been talk of a new party to run in the next race. Perhaps DiSanti would be better off there.

    1. Thank you for the kind words. I spend a great deal of time assuring my facts are correct. This is a critical time for the Republican party to regain it’s footing with policies and messages that are what people like you and I are looking for. I just hope the RNC doesn’t waste the next 4 years rehashing the same candidates that Trump demolished 4 years ago in the primaries.
