It seems that some of those high in the Democratic Party are MORE than a little concerned about Joe Biden’s ability to make it through the next 3 months of campaigning. It’s a minefield he still has to get through regardless of what the polls say today. SO much can happen in 3 months as have surely seen .
This is a quote from one article cited below. “Biden must maneuver his way through a series of intense one-on-one presidential debates, deliver political speeches to exhort his base and hawk for campaign cash, all on video, all the time.” I’ve certainly reached the age of being qualified to question what Biden can possibly be thinking wanting to be President at age 77! Particularly at this time in history when we have near civil war ON TOP of a pandemic.
I’ve watched the Joe Biden videos completely objectively. As a geriatric physician I was doing around 30 competency examinations a year on patients. Usually they were done for what is known as a “guardianship” when someone is no longer able to handle their own financial and medical affairs. They are appointed a guardian by the court to protect their best interests. Other times I would do these exams to determine that the patient was “off sound mind” and “not being influenced unduly” by someone when they were making major changes in a will or trust.
Joe Biden wouldn’t do well on a formal cognitive exam DESPITE whatever he says about having “them done on me all the time”. First of all that’s a very odd thing to say…….we don’t do them “all the time” on patients. They get done about every 6 months WHEN WE ARE CONCERNED about some apparent decrease in functionality. He display many of the characteristics of someone experiencing cognitive decline. Here’s what I observed. When he loses track of where he is in a thought or sentence and is struggling to complete it he often ESCAPES by saying something like “you know what I mean”. Very telliing. He also has his “go to” phrases which he lapses back to when he loses track of a thought….Joe’s is “follow the science”. He throws that in at times when it doesn’t even make sense. Then there’s his confusing times and people. Calling his wife his sister…….saying he’s running for the Senate. Lastly……the Dems are now using the story that Joe was a stutterer as a child and still struggles with stuttering. I’m sorry…..this is NOT stuttering and if you watch tapes of Joe from 20 -25 years ago he NEVER stutters or searches for words or thoughts.
So there you go. This post is NOT about Trump so spare me the comparisons. Joe Biden is NOT the right choice at this place and time. His family should spare him the almost assured embarassment of debates and interviews WITHOUT his teleprompter. He even has problems with reading off of that!
I’m not happy with ANY of this and I’m appalled that this is the best America has to offer at this most critical of times. WE THE PEOPLE should be demanding better.
I concur, Dr. Jon. It is going to be a minefield and a tough road to hoe. One recent item that can be taken negatively regarding Joe, is that his camp turned down an opportunity to be interviewed by Chris Wallace. Sure he is from Fox and some folks may say it woudl just be a “hit job”, but it woudl have been interesting to compare one candidate vs. the other in a similar setting, 1 on 1.
I would have LOVED to have seen that! It would have probably been a death blow to Biden!
